The new, refurbished interim facilities constructed at RAAF Base Edinburgh included the adaptive reuse of existing facilities and infrastructure to facilitate the introduction and transition of the Boeing P-8A Poseidon aircraft. The types of interim facilities developed included:
- Tactical Operations Centre (TOC) including antenna farm;
- Administration;
- Operations (including secure spaces);
- Aircraft maintenance hangars (workshops to conduct operational level aircraft maintenance);
- Aircraft pavement line marking;
- Project stores; and
- Associated engineering services.
Fundamental to the success of the project was a sustained effort and approach to effective communication between St Hilliers and RAAF Base Edinburgh Users and other affected stakeholders including 92Wing Squadron. Works were completed on an operational Base across a number of facilities and required regular, updated information to be communicated effectively to all stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of the project. St Hilliers held regular (daily, weekly and fortnightly) meetings with relevant stakeholders to identify future works in accordance with the contract documentation. This included notification of traffic and pedestrian management, and services outages to enable effective management of all base personnel.
